The database of Natural Hazards Information in Israel provides researchers, workers in the field, and decision makers in various fields in Israel with a vital tool for their actions. This database is of particular importance to those addressing this subject in the education system and will enable cumulative experience to be passed on to future generations. These activities will enhance and reinforce national resilience regarding natural disasters. While the disasters themselves are unpreventable, it is certainly possible to reduce their negative impact.
The information is organized by the different types of natural disasters: earthquakes, floods, forest fires, landslides, droughts, and winter storms.
The database was established by Professor Moshe Inbar from the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Haifa and is operates now under The National Knowledge and Research Center for Emergency Readiness.
The Center will be grateful to receive any information from institutions or private individuals relating to natural disasters that have occurred in Israel since the establishment of the state or in other historical periods.
